A Typical Day of Media Bias

Any reasonably objective person can tell that the media is left-biased. That is the most polite way to say it. Other ways would be: brain dead morons, too dumb to know the difference, intentionally pursuing their partisan agenda while masquerading as a professional, or so full of themselves they can’t conceive of being wrong, etc…

Today’s example is the headlines in Google News, which is an aggregator of news stories. Just scanning any day’s listing of headlines shows how it is rife with lefty outlets like the NYT, WP, CNN, CNBC, the AP, Politico, The Hill, NPR, etc., with a smattering here and there of Fox News and the WSJ. The headlines of the latter two are usually on non-political news. Any way you slice it, it’s about 90-10 left-biased.

Here’s a classic typical leadoff under U.S. News today: “California Rolls Back Its Landmark Environmental Law” (NYT); “Gov. Newsom Signs Housing Bill Overhauling California's Landmark Environmental Law” (USNews); “Newsom pushes major housing reform through California Legislature” (LATimes); and “California is about to roll back a landmark environmental law” (Politico).

Doesn’t seem all that bad: “rolls back,” “overhauling,” “reform,” and another rollback. Without getting into the merits of the proposal, environmentalists are “aplopeptic” (if you bother to read the articles).

If Newsom were a Republican, the headlines would be completely different sounding: “gutted,” “dismantled,” “destroyed,” “climate destroying,’’ and so on. There is no argument about this constant bias. But if you see in black and white, which lefties are more prone to do than righties, then you believe that as a comfy couch crusading soldier of justice, you must prevail! The ends justify the means.

A corollary on the righty side would be how righties feel about Satan worshipers. They are just wrong, they are just evil, their tenets are evil (even though the media likes to paint them as peaceful and alternative), and they should be opposed, no questions asked.

A reasonable person would conclude that Republicans and Satanists are in no way equivalent, but I would bet a poll would show that a majority of lefties would say they are.
